Orders & Shipping:
When will my print be shipped?
Prints are made to order.
-
Paper Prints: Printed in my studio and typically shipped within 5-7 business days (unless I am away, which will be noted on my website).
-
Canvas Prints: Produced by a local Vancouver print shop, taking 10-12 business days for printing, stretching, mounting, and framing. Expect your order to be shipped within 2 weeks.
If you need your order within a specific timeframe, please let me know ahead of time (via note in your order or email me), and I will see if it is possible. Or if it requires a rush fee.
Can I delay my print shipment to a later date?
Yes! If you need your order held for a specific delivery window, email me as soon as you place your order, and I will do my best to accommodate your request.
Do you ship prints outside North America?
Yes! Please send me the print you are interested in, the size, material, and your shipping address, and I will provide a quote.
For international shipping, it may be best to send canvas prints rolled rather than stretched to reduce costs. We can review options case-by-case. I also have contacts that may be able to print the work within UK, Europe and/or Australia on a case by case basis.
Purchasing & Availability:
How do I buy a painting I saw on Instagram?
Thank you! The greatest compliment to an artist is when someone wants to live with their artwork.
I often share paintings before they are officially listed for sale. I release paintings in collections to streamline the documentation and preparation process. If you want first access to new work, sign up for my newsletter to receive updates before the public launch.
Do you take commissions?
At this time, I do not take commissions. I find balancing my time between running my print shop and creating my own artwork limits my ability to take on custom work.
That said, I do consider projects that align with my current painting style (e.g., North Vancouver & British Columbia landscapes). If you have a project in mind, feel free to email me to see if it’s a fit.
Viewing, Pickup & Framing Artwork:
Where can I see your work in person?
Currently, I do not have a public gallery space. However, you can see my work in the following ways:
-
Original Paintings: By appointment at my home studio in New Westminster, BC. Let me know which piece you’re interested in so I can have it ready.
-
Large Canvas Prints: Displayed at United Strangers Coffee in North Vancouver. I recommend stopping by for a coffee (their vegan ginger cookie is my favorite!) while you browse.
-
Paper Prints: Since I print these in my studio, I can have them ready for viewing during your visit—just let me know in advance.
Can I pick up my print instead of having it shipped?
Yes! If you would like to pick up your order instead of having it shipped, email me and I will send you a Free Shipping Coupon Code or refund you the shipping amount. My studio is located in New Westminster, BC, and I will send you an email with pickup details once your order is ready. If you have any timing restrictions, please email me after placing your order so we can coordinate.
Can I see a specific print in person before purchasing?
If you’re interested in a specific print and want to see it in person, let me know. If I don’t have it available at my studio, I may be able to arrange to have it displayed at United Strangers Coffee in North Vancouver.
How do I frame my print?
There are many framing options! Canvas prints are ready to hang with or without a frame. Paper prints require a frame (I do not sell these), but I’ve put together some framing recommendations here: Framing Recommendations
If you need additional help, feel free to send me a photo of your space and the prints you are considering, and I’d be happy to offer recommendations.
Does the listed print size include the white border?
Yes. All print sizes include a 1” white border for easy framing.
- A 12x16 print has a 10x14 image with a 1” border all around
- A 16x20 print has a 14x18 image with a 1” border all around
- A 18x24 print has a 16x22 image with a 1” border all around
- A 24x32 print has a 20x30 image with a 1” border all around
If you prefer a full-edge print, I may be able to create a custom size. Email me to check.
Do you offer prints in smaller sizes, like 5x7 or 8x10?
I primarily focus on larger print sizes, but I may have a small inventory of 8x10 or 11x14 prints available. If you’re looking for a specific size, reach out, and I’ll see what’s possible.
Custom & Bulk Orders:
Do you offer bulk discounts for interior designers or hotels?
Yes! I have worked with hotels and interior design projects to provide custom bulk pricing. If you’re interested in purchasing multiple prints for a project, contact me for a custom quote.
Can I purchase a print unmounted (rolled canvas) for easier international shipping?
Yes! If you prefer to have your canvas print shipped rolled instead of stretched and mounted, I can arrange that. Contact me for a quote based on your location.
Other Inquiries:
Do you offer mentorship or painting lessons?
At this time, I am focused on my own painting practice and do not offer mentorships or one-on-one lessons. However, I recommend checking out online painting courses or local artist communities.
Do you recreate past paintings?
I do not typically recreate older paintings, as I like to keep each piece unique. However, if there is a specific past work you love, let me know—I may create new pieces inspired by similar themes in the future.
Can I resell my print if I no longer have space for it?
At this time, I do not have an official resale platform for pre-owned prints. However, I recommend listing it on local art resale platforms such as Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or art collector groups.
Wait, are you the same Joanne Hastie that does robot art?
Yes! I also create robotic and generative artwork. I’ve separated this work from my landscapes under the brand Painting Variables:
-
Website: paintingvariables.com
-
Instagram: @paintingvariables
-
Etsy: Painting Variables
Can I buy your robot code?
Unfortunately, no. My robot code evolves with each painting and is highly customized to my creative process. Additionally, as a self-taught Python coder, I wouldn’t feel comfortable sharing it without ensuring safety measures—especially since my setup involves machinery that could damage art supplies (or even cause injuries!). However, I’m happy to answer general questions about my process.
Still have more questions?
Email me at joanne@joannehastie.com, and I’ll do my best to respond promptly.
Thanks for your interest in my work!
