Orders & Shipping:

When will my print be shipped?
Prints are made to order.

  • Canvas Prints: Produced by a local Vancouver print shop, taking 10-12 business days for printing, stretching, mounting, and framing. Expect your order to be shipped within 2 weeks.

  • Paper Prints: Are now also printed with the local print shop so Joanne can make time to paint. They also take 10-12 business days for printing. Expect your order to be shipped within 2 weeks.

If you need your order within a specific timeframe, please let us know ahead of time (via note in your order or email us), and we will see if it is possible. Or if it requires a rush fee of 20%.

Shipping:

What shippers do you use?
Shipping is done in North America with a variety of carriers including Canada Post, CanPar, Purolator, UPS, DHL, ACE Couriers, and FedEx. It is based on your package size and its destination and the rates. If you need a specific shipping company to get to your destination, email us to discuss.

Can I ship to a PO Box?
Due to the size and nature of the packages, home or business addresses are best as often PO Boxes result in the art being returned to sender.

Can I delay my print shipment to a later date?
Yes! If you need your order held for a specific delivery window, email us as soon as you place your order, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Do you ship prints outside North America?
Yes! Please send us the name of the print you are interested in, the size, material, and your shipping address, and we will provide a quote. Some places may already have the location shipping settings created.

For international shipping, it may be best to send canvas prints rolled rather than stretched to reduce costs. We can review options case-by-case. We also have contacts that may be able to print the work within UK, Europe and/or Australia on a case by case basis.

Purchasing & Availability:

How do I buy a painting I saw on Instagram?
Thank you! The greatest compliment to an artist is when someone wants to live with their artwork.

Joanne often shares paintings before they are officially listed for sale. Joanne releases paintings in collections to streamline the documentation and preparation process. If you want first access to new work, sign up for Joanne's newsletter to receive updates before the public launch.

Do you take commissions?
At this time, Joanne is not taking commissions. She finds balancing her time between running s print shop and creating her own artwork limits her ability to take on custom work in a timely manner.

That said, she may consider projects that align with her current painting style (e.g., North Vancouver & British Columbia landscapes). If you have a project in mind, feel free to email us to see if it’s a fit.

Viewing, Pickup & Framing Artwork:

Where can I see your work in person?
Currently, Joanne does not have a public gallery space. However, you can see her work in the following ways:

  • Original Paintings: By appointment at her home studio in New Westminster, BC. Please let us know which piece you’re interested in so we can have it ready.

  • Large Canvas Prints: Displayed at United Strangers Coffee in North Vancouver. We recommend stopping by for a coffee (their vegan ginger cookie is Joanne's favorite!) while you browse.

  • Paper Prints: Since Joanne can print these in her studio, she can have them ready for viewing during your visit—just let us know in advance.

Can I pick up my print instead of having it shipped?
Yes! If you would like to pick up your order instead of having it shipped, email us and we will send you a Free Shipping Coupon Code or refund you the shipping amount. Joanne's studio is located in New Westminster, BC, and we will send you an email with pickup details once your order is ready. If you have any timing restrictions, please email us after placing your order so we can coordinate.

Can I see a specific print in person before purchasing?
If you’re interested in a specific print and want to see it in person, let us know. If we don’t have it available at her studio, we may be able to arrange to have it displayed at United Strangers Coffee in North Vancouver.

How do I frame my print?
There are many framing options! Canvas prints are ready to hang with or without a frame. Paper prints require a frame (we do not sell these), but we’ve put together some framing recommendations here: Framing Recommendations

If you need additional help, feel free to send us a photo of your space and the prints you are considering, and we’d be happy to offer recommendations.

Does the listed print size include the white border?
Yes. All print sizes include a 1” white border for easy framing.

  • 12x16 print has a 10x14 image with a 1” border all around
  • 16x20 print has a 14x18 image with a 1” border all around
  • 18x24 print has a 16x22 image with a 1” border all around
  • A 24x32 print has a 22x30 image with a 1” border all around

If you prefer a full-edge print, we may be able to create a custom size. Email us to check.

Do you offer prints in smaller sizes, like 5x7 or 8x10?
We primarily focus on larger print sizes, but we may have a small inventory of 8x10 or 11x14 prints available. If you’re looking for a specific size, reach out, and we will see what’s possible.

Custom & Bulk Orders:

Do you offer bulk discounts for interior designers or hotels?
Yes! We have worked with hotels and interior design projects to provide custom bulk pricing. If you’re interested in purchasing multiple prints for a project, contact us for a custom quote.

Can I purchase a print unmounted (rolled canvas) for easier international shipping?
Yes! If you prefer to have your canvas print shipped rolled instead of stretched and mounted, we can arrange that. Contact us for a quote based on your location.

Other Inquiries:

Do you offer mentorship or painting lessons?
At this time, Joanne is focused on her own painting practice and does not offer mentorships or one-on-one lessons. However, we recommend checking out online painting courses or local artist communities.

Do you recreate past paintings?
Joanne does not typically recreate older paintings, as she likes to keep each piece unique. However, if there is a specific past work you love, let us know— she may create new pieces inspired by similar themes in the future.

Can I resell my print if I no longer have space for it?
At this time, we do not have an official resale platform for pre-owned prints. However, we recommend listing it on local art resale platforms such as Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or art collector groups.

Wait, are you the same Joanne Hastie that does robot art?
Yes! Joanne has also created robotic and generative artwork. She has separated this work from her landscapes under the brand Painting Variables:

Can I buy your robot code?
Unfortunately, no. Joanne's robot code evolves with each painting and is highly customized to her creative process. Additionally, Joanne is a self-taught Python coder, so she is not comfortable sharing it without ensuring safety measures—especially since her setup involves machinery that could damage art supplies (or even cause injuries!). However, she is happy to answer general questions about the process.
