Third Switchback Print
About the Image
This painting, Hillside Shadows, is inspired from views while hiking on Mount Fromme in Vancouver's North Shore mountains. It shows the sunlight coming through the forest trees along the main switchback trail.
This painting is part of the collection Forest Light released in September 2021. During the past year I made focused effort to get consistently out to the trails on my bike as well as hiking. The adventures inspired this collection of paintings.
The original painting was done in 2021, acrylic on canvas, 30" x 24"
Where is it on Mount Fromme?
I am often asked where this view is on the North Shore Mountains. I created a pdf map of my paintings. Sign up for my newsletter and I will email you the latest pdf map of my trail paintings.
About the Printing process
Your artwork gets printed onto Premium Matte Exhibition Canvas or Hot Press Bright Art Paper in my art studio in New Westminster. It is then hand cut and signed. I sign paper prints on the bottom right corner in the white border and I sign and date canvas prints on the back. The canvas print is un-stretched and can be framed just like a paper print would with or without a mat.
Canvas has a texture to it making it look more like the original. I sign the back of the canvas with pencil and I write the year. The image is printed right to the edge (no border).
Hot Press Bright is a smooth, bright white archival paper. I include a 1" white border (0.5" border on 8"x10" size) and I sign the bottom right corner with pencil. The paper is 300gsm (140lbs).
Depending on the print size, the print will be packaged in a Stay-Flat cardboard envelope with backing board and plastic sleeve or larger prints I roll with tissue paper into a 3" cardboard tube.
Shipping & Custom Fees
Each print is made to order in my New Westminster, BC, Canada. Please allow 1 week for printing. And allow an additional 1 week for shipping. Please be aware that there may be additional VAT/customs charges to be paid by the customer on delivery depending on your location.
How to frame un-stretched canvas prints
Not sure how to frame your print? I created tutorials to help you frame your print yourself. If that is too much work may I also suggest some local framers. Click here for all the information regarding framing. I recommend protecting both types of print with glass or a lighter option, plexi-glass.
